Mathematics Within Enrollment Information
Summer
Thirty-six (36) practicing teachers from 29 public schools, 1 private school and 1 charter school were involved in the three summer 2005 courses, Algebraic Patterns and Their Connections to Geometry, A Deeper Study of Algebraic Processes & their Connections to Geometric Structures, and A Capstone View of Algebraic & Geometric Concepts in Middle School Mathematics. Participants represented 17 different public school districts ranging from LeCenter (#392), to Centennial (#12), to Stillwater (#834).
Academic Year
Between October 2005 and May 2006, 40 teachers participated in 8 Academic Year Network activities. These activities included Saturday Professional Development Workshops, providing opportunities for supervised enrichment content presentation, Mathematical Seminars on deeper aspects of the school curriculum, and Half-Day Workshops, providing general discussions on both content and pedagogical issues.
Twelve of the summer participants took additional opportunities to teach enrichment workshops in the 2005-06 Saturday Morning Programs.
12 of the A Deeper Study of Algebraic Processes & their Connections to Geometric Structures, and A Capstone View of Algebraic & Geometric Concepts in Middle School Mathematics participants attended the ITQ Final Workshop on May 10, 2006. 15 of the Algebraic Patterns and Their Connections to Geometry participants attended the MSP Final Workshop on May 24, 2006.
