Kids' University

 

In collaboration with MathCEP, Kids' University offers the following enrichment programs in mathematics and its engineering and technology applications to students ages 8-13 in 2009. Kids' University programs are part of the University Summer Youth Camps offered as a component of the Department of Recreational Sports' Youth & Community Programs. The University Summer Youth Camps also include Minnesota Sports Schools, Gopher Adventures
and Discovering "U" programs.

ages 9-11

Orienteering (June 22-26)
Investigate how early explorers combined math and star gazing to figure where on earth they were. Learn how explorers established true geographic north without a compass. Consider the basis for a compass and the ideas behind mapmaking, navigation and orienteering as you are introduced to spherical geometry.

ages 12-15
